Hi #blockfam! I’m Marcelis Alexander Barrett, a professional dancer, dance instructor, model and entrepreneur from Fort Worth, Texas.
I began my professional performance career in live shows at Six Flags Over Texas at age sixteen and went on to get my BA in Dance Theater from the American Music & Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles, California.
During my time in LA, I worked with choreographer Ricky Palomino on the set of LifeTime’s “Raising Asia” as a dancer. Shortly after, I was chosen by Judith FLEX Helle, artistic director, to dance as a guest artist with The Luminario Ballet.
I’ve also spent some time in Tennessee, where I was cast as a male soloist for Nashville Ballet’s NB2. While there, I also served as a soloist for the Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville and later began my teaching career there.
Upon my return to Texas, I became the Resident Guest Dance Coach for Cosmopolitan Dance Theatre and a dance instructor for The Block DFW, The Joffrey Ballet School Texas and North Texas Conservatory. I’ve also danced as a featured soloist and Company Member of the Terrance M. Johnson Dance Project and am currently a guest artist with Ballet North Texas.
My most recent work can be seen on the catwalk! I debuted my fashion career walking in New York Fashion week for Walk Fashion Show. In 2020, I was honored to be interviewed and featured in both Shoutout DFW and Walk Magazine. I also serve as a clothing brand ambassador for Halifornia Apparel and Art IV Play. I enjoy my career as an artist and wish to promote positivity and personal willpower to all.
